At Access HK, we offer a wide range of volunteering opportunities to help children from underprivileged backgrounds. Starting from October 2007, we will launch a weekend tutor programme with local schools in some of the most socio-economically deprived districts of Hong Kong .

You could help these children by spending part of your weekend with them: teach them core subjects such as English and Science, or develop your own curriculum ranging from personal finance management to creative design. Your role as teachers, will make a difference to these students.

.....Our ideal candidate?

Anyone who is enthusiastic about helping children, with or without prior teaching experience. However, volunteers should be able to speak in English or Cantonese. To ensure continuous support for these children, we ask that you sign up for a minimum of 4 weekends during any school term (Autumn: October-December, Spring: January-March, Summer: April-June). If you cannot turn up for any session which you have signed up for, we simply ask that you find a friend to be your substitute. Here's what you can do:

Tutor: Be involved in teaching a group of up to five children for a Saturday afternoon, on subjects of your choice.

Coordinator: Be involved in liaising with headmasters on the progress of the children, allocating the right number of volunteers and children to each school, coordinating a team of volunteers on the day, and planning for future events.

Autumn Term: Saturdays from 27 September to 29 November 2008
