Scholarship - Purpose

Since its inception in 2001, Access HK has flourished and grown beyond its founders' dreams. Its summer school has grown from 50 pupils to 200, and its central team has forged a strong bond, bring together quality and education seamlessly. With such a firm foundation laid, and access to education as one of our unwavering aims, Access HK has seen fit this year to establish in furtherance of education, the Access HK scholarship fund.

The scholarship hopes to offer to children the opportunity to experience music and sport, the two brances of development that buttress and fortify a strong and well-rounded education. We feel that whilst many children will have as part of their daily curriculum the chance to experience sport and music, the opportunity for personal musical tuition, or provision of less mainstream sports is often neglected, or underfunded. In such situations, Access HK hopes to be able to provide a source of funding, so that no child will be bereft of the opportunity to develop or discover their personal talents, simply because of a monetary disadvantage.

Of course, the scholarship hopes also to be flexible- each application for funding will be individually considered, and does not necessarily have to fall within the scope of sport or music. We are at the end of the day seeking to enhance the individual- not the activity.
