Frequently Asked Questions

What is so special of Access HK's summer programme?
Our staff is actively recruited from the best universities around the world, and the summer programme is essentially run by students for students. Also, Access HK is an officially registered charity organization.

How do you recruit the students?
We target at several primary schools in Hong Kong and strive to co-host our summer programme with them. We select students based on whoever are most likely to benefit from our summer programme opportunity. The number of students we recruit depends on the number of volunteers we manage to recruit. We think it's important to keep the teacher - students's ratio small for the maximum attention for each student. The teacher - students ratio is around 1:6.

How old are the students?
We target towards students between P.4 and P.6.

How old are the volunteers?
We mainly recruit university students, but we welcome volunteers from Form 5 (aged 17) and up.

Where are the volunteers from?
From universities in the UK, the US and Canada that we have affiliation with, from HK universities and the HK Outstanding Students Association.

What kind of experience is required for our teachers?
Experience with tutoring, summer camps or dealing with children in general will be a great plus. However, no experience is necessary! We do expect you to bring a sincere attitude and a genuine desire to help.

Is there anything else I can help with?
Spread the word! Tell your friends and family about Access HK. Let us know how we can make the programme better, volunteer to be a part of our summer teachers team, be one of our sponsors. We would love to hear from you.
